Remind Me Never to Bet Again

Dec 17, 2013 4:21:34 PM

I went to MIzzou, which doesn’t have a big history of winning big games. One of the designers went to Auburn. When they ended up in the ACC Championship game together, it seemed like  a perfect opportunity to bet on the game. I was thinking something like lunch or a gift card. Our developer Jeff thought it would mean more if the bet was something really big.

It took me 30 years to learn to love my curls. After that, whenever a stylist with straighten my hair, I didn’t feel like myself. I didn’t look like myself. I have coarse curls that look more witchy than silky when straight. Friends would look at my straightened locks with a skeptical eye and say “Do you like it?” Even my husband and daughter told me straightened hair wasn’t a good look for me. As my 13-year-old daughter would say “Meh.”

Priscilla has 4b coils that she wears short. She wears her coils in lots of different styles – natural styles. She does not straighten her hair.

Jeff suggested the loser straighten her hair. As the game went back and forth, I was rooting for my Tigers. And in the back of my mind, I was hoping I wouldn’t be sitting there with a flat iron on Monday morning.

Well, I lost.
